Primary explores the influence of place on early formation of self and orientation in the world. It’s about reconnecting with a foundational space at different junctures in life - for both person and place.
The exhibition hosts twenty one curated images of Merbein Primary School taken after its closure in October 2012. They represent the final chapter in revisiting the school over 20 years to photograph its structures and surrounds - a seeding ground for understanding self, social justice and challenging the status quo.
Primary offers a portal into formative experiences of people and place and how we can see ourselves over time.
